Over 100 camera traps are deployed in the territory of both national parks. Their task is to monitor animal species that are moving in the forest. The camera traps were installed in the forest at the beginning of the project and must be checked continuously, after about 3 months. During the check, data is downloaded, batteries are replaced and the camera trap settings and its location are checked. Everything must comply with the established methodology. A smaller part of the camera traps is deployed in the forest specifically, when they are installed in places where we expect the occurrence of a given species, in this case wolves. The larger part of the camera traps is installed in a network, when specific points in the network where the camera trap itself is installed are randomly selected. The obtained photos must still be sorted - determine the animal species, sex, age group. From these recordings we are then able to calculate the density of red deer, roe deer, wild boars, or other species. Here we bring you a sample of what our camera traps have captured.
