Final conference of the REDEMA project

On November 19, 2026, at the Děčín Castle, we will summarize the results of the three-year Czech-Saxon project entitled "Increasing the effectiveness of deer management using transboundary approaches (REDEMA)", which was launched on January 1, 2024. The main investigator of the project is the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, the project partners are the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History in Görlitz, the Bohemian Switzerland National Park Administration, the Saxon Switzerland National Park Administration and the Technical University of Dresden. The project area includes both national parks and the topic of the project is the local population of red deer, the factors that influence it (predators, human activities), and the impact of deer on forest stands.

The final meeting will take place on Thursday, November 19, 2026 at the Děčín Castle.

The topic of the meeting will be the results of the REDEMA project, in particular:

  1. Looking back at the REDEMA project - plans vs. results
  2. Estimated population density of red deer
  3. Telemetric monitoring of European red deer
  4. Factors influencing the red deer population (wolves, tourism, etc.)
  5. The impact of red deer on forest stands

The meeting will be simultaneously interpreted (Czech/German), participation is subject to registration.
