Invitation to an excursion within the framework of the Czech-Saxon REDEMA project
The red deer – the largest herbivore in Central Europe – is the subject of a research project in the Czech and Saxon Switzerland National Parks.
On the excursion, you will learn firsthand how scientists from both countries are investigating the behavior and distribution of these impressive animals, the impact of wolves, forest fires and climate change on their population – and how modern technologies (telemetry collars) are providing exciting insights into the lives of these shy ungulates.
Our experts will share information about their findings to date, highlight various research focuses in the field and offer an outlook on future measures in the field of wildlife management.
The excursion will not start at the National Park Center as stated here, but at a meeting point in the Lower Saxon Switzerland region, probably in Hinterhermsdorf.
