Thanks to the WoBoFE project, it has been possible to map wolf territories in detail in the Šumava and Bavarian Forest National Parks. There is a total of seven wolf territories in both national parks.
Monitoring is based on a combination of several methods: monitoring using camera traps, DNA analysis, telemetric collars, tracking signs, tracking, and direct observation.
The wolf monitoring was organized by the project "Ecological impacts of wolf return to the Šumava/Bavarian Forest ecosystem" of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague and the Administrations of the Šumava and Bavarian Forest National Parks. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the Interreg Bavaria-Czech Republic 2021-2027 programme.
