Ulrich Wotschikowsky, known as Wotsch, dedicated his life to the coexistence of man and nature, and fought with the unceasing energy to overcome the differences between hunters, farmers, nature conservationists and other stakeholders who feel related to nature. His decease is a great loss for wolves not only in Germany, where he was born and fought for the return of wolves to the cultural landscape of Central Europe. Ulrich built his work on facts and subject discussion, not only therefore he was a consultant to the Large Carnivore Initiative for Europe under the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and participated in the preparation of management plans for wolves in several German Federal states.
Ulrich Wotschikowsky passed away after a severe illness on August 30, 2019.
